Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot Canceled

Read more at their forums or at http://machinegunshoot.com

This spring's Machine Gun Shoot scheduled for April 11-13 at Knob Creek Range in Kentucky has been canceled due to flooding. There has just been too much rain in the last month. (Kentucky is already at the same amount of rain as we had in June of last year.) This means that a great part of the lower areas at KCR is underwater. This includes the lower parking area, lower gun range and the Jungle Walk. Even if waters did recede in time, the ground would still be too saturated for walking, much less parking.

This is the only entrance/exit to the range. Normally that water is about 10 feet below the bridge. More pics at machinegunshoot.com

For those of you that do not know what I am talking about. Here is a video of the night shoot.

Spears

Folks will have fun with it, but I think this time Lynne actually has it right:

Jamie Lynn Spears

Sources say that Mother of the Year Lynn Spears is pushing Jamie Lynn to get a prenup so that Casey Aldridge doesn't walk away with everything she has. Just in case he's a cheater. She thinks Casey isn't as committed to the relationship as Jamie Lynn, so she wants to make sure everything is in order before they walk down the aisle.

CelebPulp
With the luck of this family so far, a prenum is actually a very smart move. I don't think this marriage would last long either heh.

"War Hero" Exposed As Fraud

Thank God for observant people.

NEW YORK (AFP) - A New Yorker who for 40 years passed himself off as Vietnam war hero who had been decorated for extreme gallantry was sentenced to community service Wednesday after being outed as a fraud.

According to prosecutors, Louis Lowell McGuinn claimed to have been a lieutenant colonel in the US special forces and had used his fake military history since 1968 to get work or to win kudos at social functions.

His military records showed that McGuinn had indeed been in the US Army and served in Vietnam, but was discharged as a private without being decorated.

In 2006, McGuinn, who is now in his 60s, attended a ball in New York's glitzy Pierre Hotel wearing the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts, awarded for being wounded in action.

Fortunately a REAL Lieutenant Colonel noticed that he was a fake. McGuinn was recently prosecuted under the "Stolen Valor Act" which goes after these fakes. McGuinn was given 1 year of probation and 100 hours of community service.

As one of the prosecutors said;

"Fraudulently wearing these medals is an affront to their memory, and an affront to the heroism of the surviving service men and women who were legitimately awarded them,"

Thai's take?

To me, that sentence was extremely light. I would've given him alot harsher sentence than 1 year of probation.

REAL warriors do not wear their medals because they like to show off.

REAL warriors wear those medals for those who cannot wear them.

They wear them ... for those whose actions are so heroic that they sometimes pay for them with their very lives.

If you've had enough of getting your bile up by this piece of trash McGuinn, then please check out a REAL hero, Michael Monsoor.

Happy BDay R.A.F.

Way back in the last millenium when Europa still enjoyed fighting among themselves right around WWII time - the naughty Jerries pulled a fast one and out flanked the French, Dutch, Belgium and British armies scattering the Allies, entrapping many and ended up hanging and partying in Paris.

So awesome was this 'sickelschnitt' plan that France freaked and screamed "God! Please! Stop!" and totally surrendered in like 6 weeks. This was unheard of - wars tended to last a lot longer and this panzer und stuka unbeatable combat plan was given the name 'Blitzkrieg' - Teutonic for 'lightning war'.

Hard on the heels of dissing the French in another war, das Deutsches Reich prepped for taking the blitz cross channel to hit Great Britain with a D Day style invasion called 'Operation Sealion"

First bit of Sealion was to drive the British Air Force out of the air, achieve and maintain air superiority then hit the beach and hang and party in London. Easy! Great Britain's army was really hurt - many were captured in France and those who were rescued off the beaches at Dunkirk had to leave all their heavy weaponry behind.

Great Britain's mighty fleet would suffer horribly in an Armada redux at the hands of the wicked Luftwaffe if she attempted (and everyone knew she would) to stop an invasion with no air cover.
It was awful scary looking. Sir Winnie himself pointed out the war was just starting and everything depended on it.

".......the Battle of France is over. The Battle of Britain is about to begin,
upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization, upon it depends
our own British life and the long continuity of our institution and our Empire."

In the summer of 1940, 2,936 pilots took part in an historic battle against the German Luftwaffe that was to become the only battle to be fought entirely in the air, this battle has become known as; the Battle of Britain.

These brave pilots came from all walks of life, many were trained and
experienced, but most had come from civilian duties to become fighter pilots
with RAF Fighter Command. During that battle which lasted almost four months,
544 of them would lose their lives, many of them killed in action, while others
were never to be heard of again, and officially listed as missing in action. The
Battle of Britain was a prelude to the German invasion of Great Britain which
after just four months had to be abandoned because of the dedication, courage
and tenacity of those 2,936 pilots, who, against a formidable and experienced
foe and against all odds, fought only for success.

The great victory that they fought for MUST NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

And it hasn't. Even today, the spiritual sons of the Few fly and fight in the dark scary places of the world and they carry the torch of Freedom and Liberty. From aerodromes in France nearly a century ago to Basra today, the RAF is the harbinger of hope, free will and the future.

"The gratitude of every home in our Island, in our Empire, and indeed throughout
the world, except in the abodes of the guilty, goes out to the British airmen
who, undaunted by odds, unwearied in their constant challenge and mortal danger,
are turning the tide of the world war by their prowess and by their devotion.
Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few."

Happy 90th BDay Royal Air Force!

From your crazy cousins across the Pond.

Hosting

I have a chip-in widget running in the sidebar (until my birthday) for new hosting; I want to pay for 2 years and I can get 'cheap' for that amount. That means no ads, faster running website, etc. [no more godaddy at the top of the page] Feel free to drop me a dime or two :)

(mainly testing to see if I have the comments back to normal)

ps. if anyone knows what I need to do to get comments retroactively on posts, I'd be grateful (new posts are working correctly, but posts already written before this am don't have comments or the option of commenting)

Comments

Nix'd Disqus (can't use from work) and went back to blogger comments. Unfortunately it seems that blogger doesn't want me to. Either something isn't uploading with blogger correctly or the internet hates me (I copied the code from the other blog, so I know it's the right code).

Of course it could be my comp :)

Tennessee women beat Texas A&M for a spot in the final four... if Rutgers can beat UConn then I'll have all 4 teams in my bracket still (95% atm out of thousands).

"Mr. Wildcat" Bill Keightley dies at 81

"Mr. Wildcat" Bill Keightley dies at 81

Longtime Kentucky basketball manager Bill Keightley passed away Monday night at the University of Cincinnati hospital from internal bleeding caused by a previously undiagnosed tumor on his spine. Keightley was 81 years old.

I never met the man. From every (I mean EVERY) account I have read or heard of this man, he was a saint. Players said that he always had time to help them. Would always lend an ear when needed. Coaches talked about how much they counted on his advice. Everyone called him their friend.

He spent 48 seasons as the UK Basketball equipment manager. For someone to have the same job for 48 years is extremely rare. He served under every UK Men's Basketball coach since Adolph Rupp. He will be missed and every UK fan mourns his passing. I hope his family is comforted by the knowledge that a nation of Wildcat fans share their pain.

Portman for Veep?

Natalie Portman has made the short list for the GOP's potential VP nomies in 2008. Novak's column broke the story recently hot on the heels of the hottie actress's Capitol Hill debut a while back.

Senator McCain's insiders claim that Portman is a natural because
"She's hotter than a firecracker, easy on the eyes and brings financial gravitas
to the campaign. Not only that, Natalie has executive expertise from the
first three Star Wars films portraying a Princess, Senator and Resistance Leader"
Natalie wasn't the first hottie considered for the campaign. Paris the Heiress was on the list too.
"Paris is the COO for four different corps that netted about 28 million in
profits. Clearly that is an economic leader - one that could balance the GOP's nominee's strong Defense and Foreign Affairs bona fides."

Angelina Jolie was also briefly considered because of her Pro Surge stance though ultimately discounted because of several tats strategically located that might prove distracting to easily distracted voters in the Fall.

Paris Hilton was dropped from consideration despite being 'Hot' because of several incidents that would be tough for law and order voters and video collectors.

Chilling

A story that I wish was an April Fool's joke:

Eleven students got together and plotted to kill their teacher, even going so far as to bring handcuffs and a knife to school, Waycross police said.

One of the teacher's relatives said each child at Center Elementary School in Waycross had a job to do, including one assigned to wipe up the blood.

The plot unraveled over the weekend when a student tipped off police, Local 6 reported.

School officials said they never imagined that some of the 8- and 9-year-olds boys and girls at the school would think of bringing physical harm to a teacher, WJXT reported.

What do they feed those kids in Georgia??

Soccer

Here's the vid of lil bits' first goal in soccer. I was going to make a whole movie out of all the mov I took but movie maker doesn't handle mov files and I don't have a converter (if anyone knows a good free mov converter, let me know)

It was a great game and she looks like she will be more involved this year (4-6 year old squads).
